Social Media are now part of everyone’s life these days. They are a great way of communicating and sharing things with friends and family. But the downside of this is that everyone’s personal information is on the internet these days. Previously we have seen that WhatsApp make a blunder by accidentally revealing users phone number in Google Search. Now its turn for Twitter.
Twitter sent an email to their business clients revealing that their personal information which includes the last two digits of their credit card has been leaked online accidentally.
This is shocking news for the twitter business account owner as the credit card number is the most private thing and can occur fraudulent activity online.
This indicates that the business account owner’s phone numbers, email address, house address credit card details which stored in a browser cache is leaked online. After giving the bad news, Twitter gives some sort of good news to their users telling them that the data which leaked online is not being compromised and the issues discovered on May 20th have been immediately resolved. The data leaked online are the date of business accounts data, normal accounts data remained safe during this mishap.
While celebrating more, social media giant, said:
“We’re very sorry this happened. We recognize and appreciate the trust you place in us, and are committed to earning that trust every day.”
This is not the first time that the data privacy issue of social media account occurs. Every social media company faces such problems at a regular interval of time. If we talk about Twitter, in 2014 both business and nonbusiness accounts data were compromised in a data privacy issue. Although these tech giants are getting updated day by day by improving the security of their data and by deleting accounts with fake news.
