As the demand for video conferencing sites increases, Google through its Google Meet is adding new features in order to give tough times to its competitors Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
The new feature is the most requested feature by the users. Users will now be able to change or blur their background when having a conference call. This will also allow them to have a custom background for the video calls.
In contrast, Zoom and Microsoft teams already boast this feature and now there is a confirmation from Google that Google Meet is also adding it to its mobile or desktop application.

This was silently announced in a Google Documents that disclose the forthcoming features, “Background Blur and Replace (For Replace)”. With the replace feature, the users have the ability to replace their backgrounds with images or videos.
Although, this must be kept in mind that these features will come with some cautions. New Features included in the app after every quarter and without any formal notice they are subject to change without any notice. The documents further reveal that these new features are not “guaranteed to become generally available and may be modified from their current form”.
Still, there is no confirmation from Google that when these change will be made public. More features like meeting moderation controls are also in development, the capability to call an international number from Google Meet video call,cloud-based noise cancellation, breakout rooms, and the integration of Google digital whiteboard.
Most of these features may be introduced with the background blur feature. We will update this as soon as we get the confirmation.
